Paula Read

Former journalist and teacher, Paula published her first full length book, The Hazelnut Grove, in October 2020 during lockdown.

‘A literary travel book that also turned out to be a page turner.’

The Hazelnut Grove, Paula’s first non-fiction book, is about the joys and woes of moving to another European country at a time when Europe signified something to be part of, not a place to escape from. An excellent antidote to the catastrophe of Brexit.

If Only it Hadn’t Rained, Paula’s second non-fiction book, started with the discovery of a small rabbit-skin jacket in the garage of a house in Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Based on the personal memoir of Roland Chopard, it is about the fate of forced labourers from occupied France in the Second World War. It will be published in April 2023.
